Frequently Asked Questions
Bridgepoint is an independent wealth management firm. That means our advice is built around the client rather than around a bank, proprietary investment platform, or corporate sales structure.
You work directly with the people responsible for your financial strategy and investment decisions. We combine investment management, financial planning and ongoing advice in one relationship, with the flexibility to adapt as your finances, family and goals change.
We work with individuals, families, business owners, executives and retirees across a wide range of financial circumstances.
Many of our clients come to us when their financial lives have become more complicated – retirement is approaching, assets are spread across multiple accounts, a business or property has been sold, equity compensation has grown, an inheritance has been received, or they simply want someone actively overseeing the entire picture.
You do not need to have everything figured out before contacting us. That is part of our job.
When we provide investment advisory services, we act as fiduciaries and are required to put our clients’ interests first.
Bridgepoint advisors may also provide certain brokerage, insurance or other financial services under different regulatory standards. When that applies, we explain the capacity in which we are acting, how we are compensated and any material conflicts associated with the recommendation.
We believe clients should understand both what they own and why they own it.
Most of our wealth management relationships are fee-based, with an advisory fee calculated as a percentage of assets under management. As account values grow, our advisory fee schedule generally declines at higher asset levels.
Certain brokerage, insurance or other financial products may instead involve commissions or other forms of compensation.
Before you become a client, we explain the applicable fees, compensation structure and services so you know what you are paying and what you are receiving for it.
We do not apply a single investment minimum to every relationship.
The more important question is whether our services are a good fit for the complexity of your situation and the help you need. Some clients come to us with substantial investment portfolios, while others are earlier in the process of accumulating wealth or experiencing a financial transition.
A short introductory conversation is usually enough to determine whether working together makes sense.
Bridgepoint does not take custody of client assets.
Client investment accounts are generally held with established third-party custodians, including Charles Schwab, while Bridgepoint provides advice and management authority according to the terms of the client’s account and advisory agreements.
This structure allows clients to view their accounts independently of Bridgepoint and receive statements and reporting directly from the custodian.
Yes. Although Bridgepoint is headquartered in Fort Collins, we work with clients in multiple states.
Meetings can be conducted in person, by phone or by video, and clients have online access to their accounts and financial information wherever they live.
Our ability to provide particular services depends on applicable licensing and registration requirements.
The first conversation is primarily about fit.
We want to understand your situation, what prompted you to contact us, what is working today and what you would like to improve. You should also use the meeting to understand how we think, how we work with clients and what working with Bridgepoint would cost.
There is no expectation that you make a decision during the meeting.
If there appears to be a good fit, we will explain the next steps clearly. If there is not, we will tell you that too.
